Electron-pair condensation in parity-preserving QED3
In this paper, we present a parity-preserving QED3 with spontaneous breaking of a local U(1)-symmetry. The breaking is accomplished by a potential of the φ6type. It is shown that a net attractive interaction appears in the Møller scattering (s and p-wave scattering between two electrons) as mediated by the gauge field and a Higgs scalar. This might favour a pair-condensation mechanism.
متن کاملInfluence of disorder on electron-hole pair condensation in graphene bilayers.
Graphene bilayers can condense into a state with spontaneous interlayer phase coherence that supports dissipationless counterflow supercurrents. Here, we address the influence of disorder on the graphene bilayer mean field and Kosterlitz-Thouless critical temperatures and report on a simple criteria for the survival of pair condensation.
متن کاملPair-correlation function in two-dimensional lattice gases.
The pair-correlation function in two-dimensional lattice gases is computed by means of three discretized classical equations for the structure of liquids: the hypernetted-chain, the Percus-Yevick, and the crossover integral equations. The equations are numerically solved by an iteration procedure. Two different systems are considered: the Ising-Peierls lattice gas with nearest-neighbor interact...
متن کاملTwo-dimensional Solitons in Irregular Lattice Systems
Solitons are localized nonlinear waves and occur in many branches of physics. Their properties have provided a deep and fundamental understanding of complex nonlinear systems. In recent years, there has been considerable interest in studying solitons in systems with periodic potentials or lattices, in particular, those that can be generated in nonlinear optical materials [1]–[5]. In periodic la...
متن کاملInstability toward biexciton crystallization in one-dimensional electron-hole systems
One-dimensional (1D) electron-hole (e-h) systems in a high-density regime is investigated by means of bozonization techniques. It turned out that the systems are insulating even at the high density limit and that the exciton Mott transition (insulator-to-metal transition) never occurs at absolute zero temperature. The insulating ground state exhibits a strong instability towards the crystalliza...
